Prof Ajoy Ghatak is currently Emiritus Professor of Physics at IIT, Delhi. He obtained his MSc from Delhi University and PhD from Cornell University. He has published over 170 research papers and several books. His areas of interest are fiber optics and quantum mechanics.

Prof Ghatak is a recipient of several national and international awards, which include the 2003 optical society of America Esther Hoffman Beller award for his outstanding contributors to optical science and engineering education.
