The next week, your patient brings in her 4-year-old boy who was playing outside in the garden and got stung by a bee. He develops generalized urticaria within 20 minutes of the incident. He does not develop any shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing, or rhinitis symptoms. His mother treats him with diphenhydramine and by the next day his urticaria is resolved. He is seen in your office the next day due to his mother’s concern regarding the reaction.

What is the next best step in his evaluation and treatment?
