Together we can create better educational tools!

McGraw-Hill’s Primis Custom Publishing

Overview of our Services

McGraw-Hill’s Primis Custom Publishing established a standard for educational publishing when it launched its custom publishing operation in 1990. In response to the needs of changing curricula and the concern over high prices of textbooks for students, McGraw-Hill introduced the concept of making books for individual school needs and adapting books that we already publish to better fit a teacher’s course content.

Our organization has proven successful since the early years of custom publishing and we have maintained this organizational model to provide a simplified and effective basis for printing, pricing, promoting, and distributing educational products in print and electronic formats.

We are pleased to give you an overview of kind of work we can do for you:

Adaptations:

An "adaptation" simply means you can take an existing textbook and reorganize the chapters and/or abridge the contents. You may select from our vast array of McGraw-Hill College textbooks. McGraw-Hill produces thousands of products for use in college humanities, social science, languages, science, mathematics, engineering, business, and economic courses. Adaptations are generally printed in black and white, but depending on the enrollment size of your course, color adaptations may be possible. Contact your McGraw-Hill Sales Representative.

Some ideas to consider:

    • Combine chapters from more than one McGraw-Hill textbook
    • Delete chapters you do not cover
    • Include special readings or assignments with textbook chapters
    • Change the order of chapters to perfectly match your syllabus
    • Add your syllabus or lecture notes to the textbook
    • Add original artwork
    • Join the text and the student study guide together in one text

Author Original:

Have you written material for your course and want to have it professionally printed for your students? Original work could be a core textbook, study guide or lab manual, special exercises, etc. that you’ve authored. Your original project may even earn a royalty if you desire. This royalty payment can be paid directly to you, the department, or even to a special fund.

If you would like to include and/or use material that isn't your own property or the property of McGraw-Hill, we can help you research and clear permission. Permission fees can be added to the overall price of the textbook. An example of a permission item might be a famous poem you want to include in your coursepack or a magazine article that is essential to your lecture.
