Whats New

  • The 7th editions offer a 90% new or revised homework problem set with more problems than the competition. Our new co-author team is focused on providing the best homework problems set available in the market, and the high percentage of new and revised problems will give professors fresh problems to use for many semesters. The emphasis on industry-related and discipline specific questions make the new edition problems motivating for students.
  • There will be an increased number of computer problems, relevant to the design process, offered at the end of each chapter. While the problems will be generic, they will be designed to be easily solved using popular computational programs such as Matlab, Mathcad, Maple, etc. The new problems will focus on symbolic manipulation and plotting, as opposed to the more programming-based computer problems in the current editions. Computer Problems help students gain a better understanding of basic principles because most require integration of several concepts, much like one does in design.
  • Instructors will enjoy a clearer presentation and organization of problem solutions now that the solutions manual will be typeset for the first time in a clear 1-2 solution per page format.
  • The photo program will be extended to include numerous in-chapter and chapter-opening photos to help students to better visualize important concepts. Many of the book's photos will be accompanied by sketches that illustrate the key concepts to be derived from the photos and show students how they can prepare their own engineering sketches of real world objects.
  • More captions have been added to text figures to reinforce visual learning for students as they read the text and study the drawings.
  • A Fundamentals of Engineering Examination Appendix has been added for use when students prepare for the FE/EIT exam.
