In this chapter, Nike is used as the example to illustrate the information about a company found in the Standard & Poors, Corporation Reports and Value Line Industry Survey. Locate the data for Nike in the Stock Investor Pro database and compare the data with the S&P and Value Line information.
2.
a. A list of companies identified by Standard & Poors as cereal breakfast companies is given on page 97. According to S&P, these companies have an SIC code of 2043. Locate those companies in the Stock Investor Pro database that have an SIC Code of 2043 and compare these companies with the prior list in the book.
b. Using the Stock Investor Pro database, locate the four companies listed on page 97 and identify their SIC codes.
3.
a. Referring to the Stock Investor Help System, what are the 12 major industry classifications?
b. Consider all of the companies in the Stock Investor Pro database and determine how many companies are in each of the 12 industry classifications. Construct a percentage distribution by industry classification.
