Management Discussion and Analysis

LO 3, 4, 6

The annual report of a publicly owned corporation includes management's discussion and analysis of the company's operations, financial condition, and liquidity. The annual report of Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc., including the discussion and analysis by management, appears in Appendix A at the end of this text.

Read management's discussion and analysis. Identify at least five items that should be of interest to investors, but which investors would not be able to determine for themselves from the financial statements. Briefly discuss the usefulness of each disclosure to investors. Be prepared to explain your findings in class, including references to the appropriate pages and paragraphs in the illustrated discussion.
