Essay Quiz

1

You have decided to open a day care center for elementary school children to provide an optimum environment for them between the hours that school lets out and the time their parents finish working. The parents have specifically asked if you would be willing to help their children (not to mention the others!) develop in a morally appropriate manner, but they come from different religious perspectives, so they want to keep religion out of the picture in your center. How would you help all of these children have the best possible growth experience in your day care facility? How would you assist them in developing altruism, empathy, and a solid foundation for moral development?
2

One of your friends has lived in the same neighborhood for many years, but in the past few years has begun to notice that there is graffiti on fences and street signs, many of the youngsters in the neighborhood are playing their music so loud it booms into your friend’s house, and whenever he drives by the local high school during the day (when classes are in session), he sees teens sitting outside on neighboring curbs smoking and “hanging out” with each other, and once or twice he yelled at them because they were injuring cats or throwing rocks at houses. Your friend tells you he thinks these youngsters are juvenile delinquents and wants to know what you think about them and what can be done to stop their inappropriate behavior.
