  • Define the various subtypes of obesity.
  • List health risk factors associated with obesity.
  • Discuss nature and nurture as factors in promoting obesity.
  • Determine whether a weight loss program is sound, and give an example of a current fad diet.
  • Outline the various techniques of behavior modification for weight control.
  • Discuss the role of diet and physical activity as keys to weight loss.
  • Define severe obesity and describe selected treatments.
  • Describe the benefits and disadvantages of very low k-Calorie diets.
  • Summarize the characteristics of the most popular weight loss programs.
  • Discuss the effectiveness of various medications in the treatment of obesity.
  • Define underweight and describe various guidelines in managing the problem.
  • List traits that fad diets usually share.
