Rational Expressions

Chapter 7 - Rational Expressions

You will be taught to reduce, multiply, and divide rational expressions using the same procedures as for rational numbers. The techniques of building up the denominator, finding the least common denominator, and converting to the LCD are discussed, as well as how to apply these techniques to add and subtract rational numbers and expressions. The chapter then covers complex fractions, and using the LCD to simplify them. Finally, you will learn to solve equations involving rational expressions, and acquire practice with applications involving ratios and proportions, formulas, uniform motion problems, work problems, and purchasing problems.
