Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities

addition method  Eliminating a variable by adding two equations.
augmented matrix  A matrix containing the coefficients and constants of a system of equations.
dependent system  A linear system in two variable for which the graphs coincide.
determinant  A number corresponding to a square matrix.
inconsistent system  A system with no solution.
independent linear system  A linear system with exactly one solution.
linear equation in three variables  An equation of the form Ax + By + Cz = 0 with A, B, and C all not equal to zero.
linear inequality in two variables  An inequality of the form Ax + By ≥ C (or with another symbol of inequality).
matrix  A rectangular array or arrangement of terms or numbers written between brackets.
order  The number of rows and columns in a matrix.
substitution method  A method of eliminating a variable by substituting one equation into the other.
system of equations  Two or more equations.
system of linear equations  A group of two or more linear equations.
