My Sense of Cents

Throughout this program, you will be given opportunities to enter your thoughts. These opportunities--called Journal Reflections--will permit you to record your reactions to what you have read, your ideas, notes, questions, and concerns.

Above all, be honest in your reactions. If you save these entries and return to them later, you may be surprised at the changes they record over the course of the term.

1

Answer the following questions about your financial sense.

How much money do you now have in your pockets and wallet? (Guess first, then look.) How close did you come? Explain how your answers reflect the importance of money in your life.

2

Do you know how much money you typically spend in a month on all expenditures, including food, lodging, and other items?
3

How much money do you estimate is needed each term for your college expenses, including tuition and books?
4

How would you rate yourself with regard to your ability to manage your money responsibly? What improvements are needed in this area?
5

What methods do you use to plan for future expenses? How effective have these methods been for you?
6

What are your short-term and long-term financial goals?
7

What immediate strategies would you use if you suddenly found yourself in a financial crisis and didn't have enough money to meet your obligations?
