New! Main Ideas: The chapter on Main Ideas and Supporting Details has been expanded to increase the emphasis on formulation implied main ideas.

New! Internet Activities and Added Exercises: The opportunities for students to work online, in groups, or individually to hone their reading skills have been significantly expanded. Every reading selection now incorporates Internet reading and research.

New! Clustered Readings: Three grouped readings in every chapter address a controversial issue. The selections help students to hone their critical thinking and reading skills.
