Exercise 17: Chordata
Exercise 17 is an introduction to the chordate subphyla and vertebrate classes. Adult and larval tunicates (subphylum Urochordata) and amphioxus (subphylum Cephalochordata) are studied as invertebrate chordates. Amphioxus is used to illustrate the four unique chordate characteristics. Representatives of the vertebrate classes are studied in preparation for exercises 18 through 24.
