Internet Exercises

    1.  Check out the Environmental Protection Agency's website at www.epa.gov and find some recent EPA investigations on topics such as waste, pollution, and toxins. Also check out the EPA's National Enforcement Investigations Center at es.epa.gov/oeca/oceft/neic/index.html. What services does the NEIC laboratory perform? What information and resources does the site provide that would be helpful to criminal investigators?

    2.  What are the most frequent and most serious types of wildlife crimes in your area and/or state? To get started on your answer, check out the websites of your state's department of natural resources, of local, state, and/or national parks, and of local newspapers. If your state has a forensic laboratory that specializes in crimes against wildlife, this agency may also provide additional information.
