Internet Exercises

    1.  Crime Times, an online national newsletter, contains numerous articles on research that links areas such as neurochemical imbalances, drugs, toxic environment, genetic factors, psychological dysfunction, and behavior to crime. Go to www.crime-times.org and find several articles that you believe could be useful to criminal profiling for serious crimes such as rape.

    2.  Check out the National Institute of Justice's Crime Mapping Research Center at www.ojp.usdoj.gov/cmrc. This site provides research and information on geographic information systems and crime analysis. Read the article "The Use of Computerized Crime Mapping by Law Enforcement: Survey Results," which reports findings on law enforcement agencies that use crime mapping and on the effectiveness of and obstacles to crime mapping.
