Bookmark  A location or selection of text named for reference purposes. Word marks the location with the name you specify. Bookmarks are more than placeholders. For example, you can use them to create and number cross-references.
Document map  Outline-type overview of the document's organization, showing the headings arranged hierarchically in a narrow, scrollable pane.
Field  A set of codes that instruct Microsoft Word to insert text, graphics, page numbers, and other material into a document automatically. For example, the DATE field inserts the current date, and the TIME field inserts the current time. Fields also insert variable data.
Field code  A placeholder inserted in a Word document that allows you to enter variable data, as for input from the document's reader, or launch another application.
Find  Allows you to find any particular word or phrase in a document.
Hyperlink  Colored and underlined text or a graphic that you click to go to a file, a location in a file, an HTML page on the World Wide Web, or an HTML page on an intranet.
Index  List of the terms and topics discussed in a printed document, along with the pages they appear on.
Replace  Function under Edit on the Menu bar that replaces all occurrences of a word or formatting within a document; combined with Find function.
Tab stop  Insert a space for formatting text, as in indenting a line or block of text.
Table of contents  Lists the important headings that appear in your document and the pages on which they appear.
