Virus Resources

A computer virus is maliciously created software that spreads from file to file causing annoyance or damage. A virus can be benign or malicious.

The benign ones just display a message on the screen or slow the computer down, but don't do any damage.

The malicious kind targets a specific application or set of file types and corrupts or destroys them.

Today, worms are the most prevalent type of virus. They're particularly virulent because they can spread themselves. They find e-mail addresses on the computer they've infected, and send themselves to all those listed.

There are lots of programs and information on the Web to help you protect yourself against viruses. Check out some of these Web sites for more information.
