  • Software features of Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004 include flow-chart graphics on the redesigned Navigation Aid; accounts payable and account receivable credit memos; Windows XP compatibility; check; daily registers; drill-down from financial statements; Excel conversion; Universal Price Code (UPC) and Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) field; updated screen illustrations. All of this combined ensures that the students are working and learning with the latest technology changes of Peachtree Complete 2004, Release 11. This is reflected in the updated screen illustrations and report printouts that students use in the text.
  • Chapter 1 includes instructions for copying the Bellwether Garden Supply folder to a Zip disk or CD-RW disk. Peachtree’s new Restore Wizard is explained.
  • Peachtree’s two sample companies, Bellwether Garden Supply, a retail business and service company, and Pavilion Design Group, a service company, are incorporated into Part I of the text.
  • Chapter 8, Pavilion Design Group, demonstrates Peachtree’s time and billing features.
  • Chapter 9, Maintaining Accounting Records for Service Businesses, gives students practice setting up a two service businesses from scratch: Taylor Rinaldi, Graphic Artist; and Student Name, Artist. The two businesses started in Chapter 9 (one within the chapter and one at the end of the chapter) are continued in Chapter 10, giving students an opportunity to complete the accounting cycle for three months of transactions and close the fiscal year. This exercise is especially useful for the students, since service businesses make up a large majority of the business world.
  • Chapters 9 and 10 and Chapters 11 through 14 include serial problems.
  • Chapter 11 starts Part 3, Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004 for Merchandising Businesses. In Chapter 11 students set up a merchandising business for Matt’s Service Merchandise. The two merchandising businesses started in Chapter 11 are continued in Chapters 12, 13, and 14 giving students another opportunity for a serial exercise.
  • Students set up 11 businesses from scratch. This is valuable training for future accounting technicians.
  • Students learn how to use "Fast-Add" to add accounts, customers, vendors and employees quickly from any transaction window.
  • The Year-End wizard walks students through the process of closing the fiscal year.
  • Students will experience "Out of Stock" warnings on sales orders, create and print deposit tickets, and enter purchase descriptions on checks.
  • "Drill-down" feature allows students to display and edit transaction detail in reports.
  • Chapter 18, Dynamic Data Exchange, shows students how to copy Peachtree report data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
  • The Online Learning Center for the 8th edition of Yacht will include online student quizzing with feedback, grading, and email link to enhance the teaching and learning experience and reinforce what the student has been asked to learn in each chapter.
  • The entire text is available on Primis at www.mhhe.com/primis for greater flexibility.
  • The software CD-ROM, Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004 is packaged with every text. This allows students to have their own copy of the software for use at home or on campus. The author recommends that the software packaged with the textbook be installed in the school’s computer lab.
  • There are four parts of the text: 1) Exploring Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004; 2) Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004 for Service Businesses; 3) Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004 for Merchandising Businesses; and 4) Advanced Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004 Applications. There are four projects with step-by-step instructions as well as three opportunities for students to design their own businesses.
  • All chapters have Software Objectives and Web Objectives, within chapter activities, end of chapter testing; end-of-chapter exercises, Internet activities, Going to the Net exercises, and writing assignments to reinforce important concepts.
  • If schools want to obtain another copy of the educational version software, they can request an academic site license from Peachtree Software. Instructors can download an application from the website (www.peachtree.com/training; link to Educational Partnerships). The Instructor's Manual & Key also includes an academic site license application that can be faxed to Peachtree Software.
  • Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004 software includes everything needed to record business transactions: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, and job costing. The text is spiral bound for ease of use when working on the computer.
  • Going to the Net exercises are in every chapter. This provides students more practice on the web, and extra reinforcement of chapter concepts. (The Going to the Net exercises have a solution in the Instructor's Manual.)
