1. On the Internet, you can find photos and video clips of people making gestures. Find a photo of a gesture that would be effective in a speech, print it, and write a one-paragraph summary of why you think the gesture seems to be effective.

Possible Strategy: Go to Lycos (www.multimedia.lycos.com), choose "Pictures" and search with the keyword "gesture."

2. Some speeches or performances are marred by cell phones ringing or people having cell phone conversations. Search the Internet to find three appropriate responses that speakers and performers have made in these situations.

Possible Strategy: Go to Google (www.google.com) and use these keywords: "cell phone rude audience."
