Biological therapies do treat symptoms. For some illnesses the relief of the symptoms may be all that is required. Most successful therapies are a combination of the medical model with some type of therapy. When symptoms are somewhat relieved, a client may be better able to focus on the underlying problems associated with the illness.

If a dangerously violent person could be "cured" of violence through a new psychosurgical technique, would you approve the use of this technique? Suppose the person agreed to--or requested--the technique? What sort of policy would you develop for the use of psychosurgery?
