About the Author



KATHERINE MILLER is professor of communication at Texas A&M University. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Michigan State University and her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. Before landing in Aggieland, Miller taught at Michigan State University, Arizona State University, and the University of Kansas. Miller is the author of more than 50 articles and book chapters describing her research on human service and health care workers and on emotion in the workplace, and she has won numerous awards for her teaching and research. Kathy and her husband, Jim Stiff, have a pre-teen daughter, Kalena, and an ancient cocker spaniel, Mickey Stanley. Kathy enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, spectator sports of all kinds, and relaxing travel with her family.
