For Instructors

Digital Content Manager

This multimedia collection of visual resources allows instructors to browse, select, and export files containing artwork from the text in multiple formats to create customized classroom presentations, visually based tests and quizzes, dynamic course website content, or attractive printed support materials. The digital assets on this cross-platform CD-ROM are grouped by chapter within easy-to-use folders.

  • Art Full-color digital files of all illustrations in the book, plus grayscale versions of the same artwork, are housed in the Art folder. These files can be readily incorporated into lecture presentations, exams, or custom-made classroom materials. In addition, all files are pre-inserted into blank PowerPoint slides for ease of lecture preparation.
  • Photos The Photos folder contains digital files of instructionally significant photographs from the text, which can be reproduced for multiple classroom uses.
  • Tables The Tables folder includes every table that appears in the text saved in electronic form.

In addition to the content found within each chapter, the Digital Content Manager for Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology contains the following multimedia instructional materials.

  • Active Art Active Art consists of art files that have been converted to a format that allows the artwork to be edited inside of PowerPoint. Each piece can be broken down to its core elements, grouped or ungrouped, and edited to create customized illustrations.
  • Animations Numerous full-color animations illustrating physiological processes are provided. Harness the visual impact of processes in motion by importing these files into classroom presentations or online course materials.

e-Instruction

The Classroom Performance System (CPS) is an interactive system that allows the instructor to administer in-class questions electronically. Students answer questions via hand-held remote control keypads, and their individual responses are logged into a gradebook. Aggregated responses can be displayed in graphical form. Using this immediate feedback, the instructor can quickly determine if students understand the lecture topic, or if more clarification is needed. CPS promotes student participation, class productivity, and individual student accountability.

Instructor’s Testing and Resource CD-ROM

This cross-platform CD-ROM provides a wealth of resources for the instructor. One of the supplements featured on this CD is EZ Test, a flexible and easy-to-use electronic testing program.  This program allows instructors to create tests from book specific items, and accommodates a wide range of question types, including the option for instructors to add their own questions.  Multiple versions of the test can be created and any test can be exported for use with course management systems such as WebCT, BlackBoard or PageOut.  EZ Test Online is a new service and gives you a place to easily administer your EZ Test-created exams and quizzes online. The program is available for both Windows and Macintosh environments.

Other assets on the Instructor’s Testing and Resource CD-ROM include the book’s Instructor’s Manual and the Instructor’s Manual for the accompanying Laboratory Manual.

Transparencies

The set of transparency acetates that accompanies the text includes 250 full-color images identified by the authors as the most useful figures to incorporate into lecture presentations.

Laboratory Manual

The Laboratory Manual to accompany Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology, authored by Kevin Patton of St. Charles Community College and St. Louis University School of Medicine, divides the material typically covered in anatomy and physiology labs into 43 subunits. Selection of the subunits and the sequence of their use permits the design of a laboratory course that is integrated with the emphasis and sequence of the lecture material. Basic content is introduced first, and gradually more complex activities are developed. This laboratory manual also contains coloring and labeling exercises, optional computer exercises, boxed hints, safety alerts, separate lab reports, and a full-color histology minireference. Access to a comprehensive instructor’s manual containing answers to the lab reports is provided to instructors.

Online Learning Center

The Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology Online Learning Center at www.mhhe.com/seeleyess6 is a comprehensive website created for instructors and students using the Seeley, Stephens, and Tate textbook. The Online Learning Center allows instructors complete access to all student features, as well as exclusive access to a separate Instructor Center that houses downloadable and printable versions of traditional ancillaries, plus additional instructor content.
