Mass Media in a Changing World introduces students to the world of media in an organized structure that makes the material intelligible and more meaningful to their lives. Each chapter is divided into unique three-part narrative sections: history, industry, and controversy. This structure makes clear the way industry practices developed historically and how those practices have resulted in today's issues. Mass Media in a Changing World is the story of where the media came from, why they do what they do, and why those actions cause controversies.

This listserv is devoted to the needs and concerns of the instructor of college-level Introduction to Media and Introduction to Mass Communication courses. Active since 2000, the group is a forum to share articles of interest to mass communication students as well as to discuss issues that arise in the teaching of this course. In addition, the MediaProfs e-group provides current articles and news updates for readers of MASS MEDIA IN A CHANGING WORLD, although the use of this textbook is not a requirement for membership in the group.
