Chapter Five will provide for the student a conclusive understanding of the theory of Utilitarianism. The student will be introduced to Bentham's Hedonistic Calculus and Mill's Harm Principle. This chapter provides an opportunity for the student to apply either of these concepts, not only in the academic area, but also in his/her personal life and the decisions he/she may make on a daily basis. The student will understand what is meant by "the greatest amount of pleasure for the greatest number of people and the least amount of pain for the least number of people", even if it is in war.
