Chance encounters and fortuitous events cannot be predicted by the science of psychology, yet they frequently exert a major influence on a person's life. Here Bandura argues that chance encounters have their own causal determinants, and having once occurred, they enter the reciprocal determinism paradigm and can be analyzed in the same manner as other environmental events.
