After reading the chapter, reflecting, and participating in the chapter activities, preservice teachers will be able to

a. understand what each school of thought about learning attempts to do.

b. describe the beliefs and findings associated with each school of thought and their implications for teaching.

c. denote some educational practices with roots in cognitive, humanistic, and behavioral schools of thought.

d. compare and contrast the cognitive, behavioral, and humanistic schools of thought.

e. evaluate the importance of the three theories with respect to their own teaching.

f. evaluate the appropriateness of each of the theories with respect to specific learning outcomes.
