1			Compare several of Bob Dylan's songs that exist in both (solo) acoustic and (ensemble) electric versions, such as "I Don't Believe You," "Like a Rolling Stone," or "Baby Let Me Follow You Down." Make a list of the musical differences you here (aside from the instrumentation). Do the changes you hear seem to affect the message of the song?




2			Do some research on the highly musical Seeger family (Charles Seeger, Pete Seeger, Mike Seeger, Ruth Crawford Seeger, Peggy Seeger). In what ways do their musical careers overlap or diverge?




3			Listen to any available recording by Woody Guthrie and compare the performances to those on Bob Dylan's first album (especially Dylan's "Song to Woody"). What musical elements have been retained or altered by Dylan? How would you compare the two men in terms of songwriting, social commentary, and the timbre of the voice?
