Activity 1: "On This Day" (Compare and Contrast) Directions: The New
York Times online has a special learning section called "On This Day,"
which provides information about events that happened on the same date throughout
history. Visit the site, then choose one of the historical events described
and read the accompanying article (or do a little research elsewhere about
the event). Write an essay comparing and contrasting the events of that day
with today.
