A, B, or C Student: Which Do You Choose to Be?

In general, "A" students have these characteristics:

  • They have perfect or near perfect attendance and are on time to class.
  • They are always prepared for class (they have read the assignment and done any other homework).
  • They participate actively and voluntarily in class.
  • Their work is consistently superior and is handed in on time.
In general, "B" students have these characteristics:
  • They have good attendance and are typically on time to class.
  • The homework is nearly always complete.
  • They generally participate in class.
  • Their work is above average and is handed in on time.
In general, "C" students have these characteristics:
  • They miss no more than four hours of class.
  • They occasionally have an incomplete homework assignment.
  • They participate in class when called on.
  • Their work is adequate and is usually handed in on time.

Notice that nearly all of these characteristics are ones you have control over. Which level of student do you aspire to be? What would you have to change in order to achieve it?
