Chapter 9 provided an overview of supply chain management (SCM) and examined one of its most important components—purchasing. Chapter 10 provided necessary background and techniques associated with planning and forecasting demand so that resources may be effectively managed. Chapter 11 addressed the management of one of those resources—inventory—so that costs and customer service can be balanced. As SCM's priority has increased, so has one of its most critical components: logistics.
