Video Observation 3: Children Feeding Themselves

Mealtimes are part of the curriculum. See if writing anecdotal records, as in the instructions below, helps you see the curriculum aspects of this scene.

Children Feeding Themselves (1719.0K)

ANECDOTAL RECORDS

Directions: Watch this clip without writing anything down. Now give one child a name, and then write down as much as you can remember about that child. Did anything particularly stand out in your memory? Then give another child a name, and write down as much as you can remember about that child. Again, think about what stood out in your memory.

Child 1. Name_______

Child 2. Name ________

You can record your observations in the space provided in the Caregiver's Companion that accompanies your textbook.

What you just wrote were two anecdotal records, which are short records written after the fact about anything that stood out in your mind about particular children.

Self-reflection: Did you find you were more attracted to one of the children than to the other? If yes, what attracted you? Was it easier to remember something about the one that attracted you or the one who didn't?
