Consider the opening story of the chapter. Reflecting on the information presented, respond to the following two questions and relate them to the chapter content.

1			Identify and explain the various instances of how intrapersonal communication functions in the opening story. You may draw both from the story as well as project how either Lee or Jenny Yamato engage in intrapersonal communication.
2			The role of the self functions in the Yamato family. Discuss how issues pertaining to the self relate to Lee's leaving the family and Jenny's reaction to her departure. Comment specifically on how the self might change as a result of Lee's decision to go to college.
