Global Climate Change

We are excited to introduce a new chapter on Climate Change. This chapter opens by describing the difference between weather and climate and explaining what is meant by the term climate change. It goes on to explain the basics of the atmosphere, including its chemistry, structure and energy budget, and the greenhouse effect.

Major factors driving climate change are then described followed by a discussion of climate change through time.

Finally, the evidence for modern day climate change is presented, along with discussions on modeling climate change, the consequences of climate change, and methods used to control climate change. Boxes include information about greenhouse gases on Mars and Venus, the carbon cycle, and melting of tropical glaciers.
