A 20-second radio spot

Get a feel for the compression required for broadcast writing by writing a 20-second radio spot based on the following information:
  • John Brauer, 33, of Fremont and a 24-year-old man from Modesto died Tuesday morning after their vehicle collided with a cement truck on Highway 101, the California Highway Patrol reported.

  • The accident occurred about a half mile south of Shoreline Drive on Highway 101, said Santa Clara County Coroner Jason Fung.

  • Brauer was driving the vehicle.

  • Fung wouldn't release the name of the 24-year-old pending notification of the family.

  • Another passenger, 18-year-old Meira Banning of Fremont, was taken by Santa Clara County ambulance to Stanford Medical Center.

  • Banning was in stable condition Thursday morning, hospital spokesperson Amy McNulty said.

  • According to a release from the CHP, Brauer was driving a 1998 Chevy Prism north toward Palo Alto around 10:50 a.m.

  • Hermit Kline, 62, of San Francisco, was traveling north in a cement truck owned by Cohen Bros. Cement Co.

  • The Prism swerved suddenly out of the carpool lane and the vehicles collided, the release says.

  • Kline suffered a broken arm and a concussion, according to the release.

  • CHP officers were assisted at the scene by Mountain View city police, and the Mountain View Fire Department also was called to the scene.

  • CHP continues to investigate, according to the release.
