Suppose there is a cluster of stars in which there are no main sequence stars hotter than spectral class A0. Use Table 19.1 and Figure 19.9 to estimate the age of the cluster.

Use figure 19.12 to determine the luminosity of the hottest main sequence star in the cluster h + x Persei. Be careful when you try to read the luminosity off the horizontal scale - this is a logarithmic plot. Use Figure 16.21 to find the mass that corresponds to the luminosity of the hottest main sequence star in the cluster. Then use the mass in Figure 19.9 to find the main sequence lifetime of the star and the cluster.
