A coup overthrew the government, and Guevara left for Mexico. In 1956, Guevara joined the revolutionary movement in Cuba. He was an important ally of Castro. Guevara took on many important jobs in the Cuban government after the revolution. After a while, he and Castro did not agree. He led a force of 120 Cubans in Africa, but the mission ended in failure.
