As all college students today are well aware, the World Wide Web provides a vast amount of information that helps to make research for term papers, projects and theses both easier and more efficient. The same holds true for legal research projects like the kind that you might be asked to conduct for a course on mass media law.

The Web provides hundreds of sites replete with legal information. From the Web, you can access case law, federal and state codes and statutes, and law journals.

There are 16 important and excellent resources that we highly recommend. Those 16 sites are broken down here into four different categories: (1) First Amendment Advocacy Organizations; (2) Freedom of Information Resources; (3) General Starting Points for Legal Research; and (4) Government Resources Related to Law.

Take the time to explore each of these sites and find out what each has to offer. Rather than rely on descriptions that we might supply, you should visit each firsthand.

There are, of course, many other valuable online resources that you may want to consult. The following sites merely serve as points from which to begin your research.
