About the Authors



Tanya Renner, Professor of Psychology at Kapi'olani Community College, earned a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of California at Berkeley. In addition to teaching introductory psychology, Renner studies effective teaching and learning practices and ways to develop critical thinking skills. A strong advocate for problem-based learning, both as an educator and as a researcher, she also actively supports the use of ePortfolio software as a teaching-learning strategy and participated in a national project headed by the American Council on Education to develop specific strategies for using ePortfolios and for assessing the student learning demonstrated in an ePortfolio.

Joe Morrissey, a product of Rutgers University and Boston University, is a cognitive psychologist who studies face recognition and teaches a variety of a psychology courses, including introductory psychology, statistics, research methods, learning, neuroscience, and industrial/organizational psychology. He is a frequent contributor to textbook supplements.

Lynda Mae holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Purdue University. She teaches psychology at Arizona State University in Tempe and does trial consulting. She specializes in the creation of multimedia lectures and courtroom presentations using engaging imagery, film clips, music, and other media.

Robert S. Feldman is a Professor of Psychology and Dean of the College of Social and Behavior Sciences at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. A winner of the College Distinguished Teacher award and a Fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science, Feldman has written more than 100 books, book chapters, and scientific articles. For much of his career, Feldman has studied lying and deception, culminating in the recent publication of The Liar in Your Life: The Way to Truthful Relationships. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Mike Majors, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Delgado Community College, prepared the supplements for PsychSmart (available at www.mhhe.com/psychsmart1e2011). Majors has a bachelor's degree from Auburn University and a master's degree in psychology from Mississippi State University. He currently teaches both traditional face-to-face classes and online classes in general psychology. In addition, he is the author of several introductory psychology study guides. Majors is a member of the Association for Psychological Science (APS), the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (American Psychological Association Division 2), and Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology.
