acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)  Sexually transmitted disease that destroys the body's immune system. Caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
aerobic exercise  Sustained exercise (such as jogging, swimming, or cycling) that involves oxygen intake and that stimulates heart and lung activity
date or acquaintance rape  Coercive sexual activity directed at someone with whom the perpetrator is at least casually acquainted
emerging adulthood  Period of transition from adolescence to adulthood (approximately 18 to 25 years of age) that involves experimentation and exploration
