Critical thinking is a multi-dimensional process that involves decoding, analyzing, processing, reasoning, and evaluating information. It is also an attitude showing your willingness to explore, probe, question, and search out answers and solutions. Critical thinking is fundamental to problem solving.

Here are some attributes of a Critical Thinker:

  • A willingness to ask pertinent questions and assess statements and arguments
  • The ability to suspend judgment and tolerate ambiguity
  • Ability to admit to a lack of information or understanding
  • A sense of curiosity
  • An interest in seeking new solutions
  • An ability to clearly define a set of criteria for analyzing ideas
  • A willingness to examine beliefs, assumptions, and opinions against facts
