Big Question Overview and Resources

Overview

America was founded on a principle that all people are created equal. Do you think this principle still exists? People from all over the world take great risks to come to America and start a new life. Most of these people have a dream of what their life will be like in America.

The American dream is different for everyone. What is your American dream? What is your parents' American dream? Historical texts tell us about the sacrifices people make to realize their American dream. Historical texts can be speeches, stories, newspaper articles, or any sort of writing that documents the past. Reading about the past can help you figure out your own dreams for the future.
