A Rose for Emily

Notice the adjectives that William Faulkner uses to describe Miss Emily: dear, inescapable, impervious, tranquil, and perverse. These adjectives describe her character traits instead of merely her appearance. Consider why these adjectives are appropriate. For example, Miss Emily is inescapable because even though she does not interact with the townspeople, they cannot escape her presence. She is impervious because she is not affected or influenced by anything in the town.

List five adjectives that you would use to describe your own character traits. Then write a brief character sketch of yourself using these and other descriptive words.
