What's New

  1. The book has undergone extensive internal reorganization and refinement for increased pedagogical effectiveness. The box program has been streamlined with appropriate material integrated into the text; names and terms are used only in context; material is ordered in a more logical way within the chapters.
  2. Chapter 1 has been redone to emphasize the value of philosophy. It introduces arguments and logic earlier and covers them more thoroughly.
  3. Coverage of Plato and Aristotle has been expanded to two separate chapters.
  4. Seven readings are new to this edition.
