Chapter Overview

Human biology is the branch of life science that focuses on human life. Differing from other animals by the presence of an advanced brain, humans are able to do many things that are unique to their species. Among these are caring for themselves, learning about themselves and all other forms of life, and taking care of their environment.

In this chapter you will study human biology as you read about the following topics:

  • the human brain
  • taking care of your body
  • systems of the human body
  • reproduction and human genetics
