  • A font is a set of characters with a specific design, for example, Arial or Times New Roman.
  • Font size (the height of a font) is measured in points, with 72 points to an inch.
  • Fonts of the same size can vary in the width, some taking up more horizontal space than others.
  • Many formatting buttons are toggle buttons, meaning that the same button is clicked to turn an effect on and clicked again to turn it off.
  • Change text attributes and effects such as bold, italic, and text color by first selecting the text and then clicking the appropriate buttons on the Formatting toolbar. Or, apply formatting as you key text.
  • The Font dialog box enables you to apply multiple formatting attributes and effects all at one time. Using the Font dialog box is another way to apply text formatting.
  • One or more fonts can be changed for an entire presentation by using the Replace Fonts command.
  • When a text placeholder is selected, formatting that you apply affects all the text in the placeholder.
  • Text in placeholders can be aligned with the left or right side of the placeholder, centered, or justified.
  • When AutoFit is turned on, text is automatically resized to fit its placeholder. You can turn AutoFit features on or off by using the AutoCorrect Options dialog box.
  • When a text placeholder with a size problem is selected, the AutoFit button <a onClick="window.open('/olcweb/cgi/pluginpop.cgi?it=gif::::/sites/dl/free/0072254440/169693/AutoFit.gif','popWin', 'width=NaN,height=NaN,resizable, scrollbars');" href="#"><img valign="absmiddle" height="16" width="16" border="0" src="/olcweb/styles/shared/linkicons/image.gif"> (0.0K)</a> appears near the placeholder. Click the AutoFit button to control how AutoFit affects the text.
  • Body text placeholders are preformatted to have bulleted paragraphs. Bullets for selected paragraphs or placeholders are turned on or off by clicking the Bullets button <a onClick="window.open('/olcweb/cgi/pluginpop.cgi?it=gif::::/sites/dl/free/0072254440/169693/Bullets.gif','popWin', 'width=NaN,height=NaN,resizable, scrollbars');" href="#"><img valign="absmiddle" height="16" width="16" border="0" src="/olcweb/styles/shared/linkicons/image.gif"> (1.0K)</a>.
  • Use the Bullets and Numbering dialog box to change the shape, size, and color of bullets or numbers.
  • Graphics files can be imported and used as picture bullets.
  • Format text placeholders on master slides in the same way as text placeholders on presentation slides. Making changes to master slides affects all the slides in a presentation.
  • Switch between the title master and the slide master by pressing [Page Up] and [Page Down] or clicking a thumbnail on the left side of the screen.
  • Changes made to master slides do not override formatting changes previously made to individual slides. To update a slide to agree with its master, reapply its slide layout.
  • Text boxes enable you to place text anywhere on a slide. Using the Text Box button <a onClick="window.open('/olcweb/cgi/pluginpop.cgi?it=gif::::/sites/dl/free/0072254440/169693/TextBox.gif','popWin', 'width=NaN,height=NaN,resizable, scrollbars');" href="#"><img valign="absmiddle" height="16" width="16" border="0" src="/olcweb/styles/shared/linkicons/image.gif"> (1.0K)</a>, click anywhere on a slide or draw a box and then start keying text.
  • Text in a text box can be formatted by using standard text-formatting tools. Change the width of a text box to control how it will word-wrap.
  • When you select a text box on a slide, a green rotation handle appears slightly above the top-center sizing handle. Drag the rotation handle left or right to rotate the object.
