  • Use the annotation pens during a slide show to call attention to something on a slide, draw an impromptu diagram, or record audience feedback.
  • During a slide show, you can blank the screen to black by pressing [B]; press [B] again to return to the slide show. To blank to a white screen, press [W].
  • Slides can be hidden so that they will not be displayed during a slide show. To go to those slides, key the slide number and press [Enter].
  • When preparing presentations that will be displayed on other computers, you should embed the fonts you used. That way, you know that your presentation will be displayed with the fonts you used to create it.
  • The Package for CD saves a presentation with all of its linked files on a CD or other removable medium for use on another computer. When using Package for CD, you have the option of embedding fonts and also of including the PowerPoint Viewer.
  • The PowerPoint Viewer enables your presentation to be run on a computer that does not have PowerPoint installed. The Viewer is a program containing several files too large for a 3.5" disk, so you will need a large-capacity media storage format to use this feature.
  • The page size and orientation of presentation slides can be changed to fit your needs. Use the Page Setup dialog box to choose orientation, standard sizes such as 35 mm slide or overhead, or to create a custom size.
  • Presentations prepared for 35 mm format or for overhead format can be sent to a service bureau via e-mail or disk to be created as 35 mm color slides, color transparencies, or color prints. Overheads (also called overhead transparencies) can also be created by using transparency film in a standard printer.
  • Presentations can be sent to coworkers or others to be reviewed by e-mail, disk, or shared folder. Reviewers can make changes and add comments to their copy of the presentation without affecting the original.
  • Besides making changes to a presentation, reviewers can add comments by clicking the Insert Comment button <a onClick="window.open('/olcweb/cgi/pluginpop.cgi?it=gif::::/sites/dl/free/0072254440/169724/InsertComment.gif','popWin', 'width=NaN,height=NaN,resizable, scrollbars');" href="#"><img valign="absmiddle" height="16" width="16" border="0" src="/olcweb/styles/shared/linkicons/image.gif"> (1.0K)</a> on the Reviewing toolbar. A comment can be read by pointing to a comment marker.
  • To merge reviewers’ copies of a presentation with the original, open the original and choose Tools, Compare and Merge Presentations. The resulting presentation will contain change markers indicating where reviewers made changes.
  • To see changes made by reviewers, click a change marker. To apply the change, check the box next to the description of the change. To unapply the change, clear the box. Apply all changes to a slide or to the presentation by using the Apply button <a onClick="window.open('/olcweb/cgi/pluginpop.cgi?it=gif::::/sites/dl/free/0072254440/169724/Apply.gif','popWin', 'width=NaN,height=NaN,resizable, scrollbars');" href="#"><img valign="absmiddle" height="16" width="16" border="0" src="/olcweb/styles/shared/linkicons/image.gif"> (1.0K)</a> list arrow on the Reviewing toolbar.
  • Reviewers’ comments can be printed by checking the Include comment pages option at the bottom of the Print dialog box.
  • Publishing a presentation to the Web means saving a presentation as an HTML file in a shared folder or on a Web server. You publish it by choosing Web Page in the Save as type drop-down list in the Save As dialog box. It is only viewable over the Internet if the folder in which it is saved is accessible over the Internet.
  • If you have an account with a third-party partner for PowerPoint online broadcasting, a broadcast of your presentation can be scheduled and delivered to a large audience via the Internet. The broadcast can include live audio and/or video.
  • Even if you do not schedule a broadcast, you can record one for later viewing by anyone who has access to the folder where the recorded broadcast is stored.
  • To access a presentation that was saved as a Web page or one that is a saved broadcast, open your browser and key the address in the Address box. Alternatively, use My Computer or Windows Explorer to navigate to the location where it is saved; then double-click its file icon.
