The Coffee LoverAnnouncer: How many cups of coffee do you drink in a day?Kat: It varies between ten and twelve, fourteen maybe.Announcer: Kat McGillis has run Cleveland Cafeteria for forty-six years. Coffee is a part of her life.Kat: I love it. Absolutely love it. My only vice.Announcer: So you've never had trouble drinking that much coffee?Kat: No. And I've done it a long time.Announcer: Kat's only concession, she doesn't drink it in the evening, but others are more sensitive to the caffeine in coffee. In the past, caffeine's been blamed for lots of things. Now scientists are backing off many of them. Studies now say caffeine probably does not worsen fibrocystic breast disease, nor does it raise cholesterol. It may, if you drink too much, cause your hands to shake or your heart to skip a few beats. If that's the case, it's time to cut back.Kat: It may kill me in the end, but I love it. I absolutely love it. |
