  1. 1. Go to the League of Women Voters Website. (http://www.lwv.org/) On the home page, click on "Where We Stand" (from the list on the top right). On the page that results, select "Promoting Democracy in America" and "Creating a Just Society." Read through the material you find under each topic.
    1. The League focuses on five concerns that should be helpful in making democracy work in America. What are they?
    2. With respect to creating a just society, what is judicial independence?
    3. Why is the League conducting a study of judicial independence? What importance is attached to this matter?
  2. Explore the Politics1 Website (http://www.Politics1.com) to see the kinds of resources available at this site. Note that it is devoted to The PBS Democracy Project. Select and explore the buttons relating to "The Presidency," "The States," "Parties," and "Issues." In the Search Politics1 search window at the bottom of the home page, enter "Campaign + Finance + Reform" and proceed. At the top of the new page, locate "Sponsor Listings." Select "Campaign Finance Reform." You will arrive at a Politics1 Ezine on this topic. Scroll down to "The More Things Change, The More Things Stay the Same" and select it. Read through the article by Dulio, Campbell, and Watson. Since it is quite long, focus primarily on the opening paragraphs and on the section of the article entitled "Historical Underpinnings ."
