Chapter 1 Exercises- Write a paragraph explaining your vision of the future of email. (section 1.2, problem 3)
- What user names would you suggest for the following famous Appalachian Trail hikers:
Warren Doyle, David Horton, Peter Palmer, Sheila Kennon,
Peter Solomon, Dan Bruce, Susan Jones, Mark Holmes? (section 1.3, problem 7) - On your computer system, what is the default password a new user is assigned? How long do you have before it must be changed? How frequently must the password be changed? Are there any rules you must follow in choosing a password? (section 1.3, problem 11)
- This exercise should make you aware of the number of countries currently using email. Put together a list of all top-level country code domain names, not just those listed in the text. Are they all two letters long? How many different countries could you locate? (section 1.3, problem 12)
- Print out an email message you received and label the different parts. (section 1.4, problem 18)
- Write a sample email message to Grandma Gatewood, who thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail three times. Ask her what she en-joyed most about the trail. Print out your message. (section 1.4, problem 19)
