Chapter 6 Exercises- Can you Telnet to the machine you regularly use? Can you rlogin to this same machine? If so, is there a reason why you would want to do this? (section 6.2, problem 1)
- Invoke your Telnet client. What is the escape sequence used on your system? (section 6.2, problem 2)
- Configure your browser so that you can enter Telnet URLs to
launch Telnet. Describe what you needed to do to accomplish
this. (section 6.2, problem 3)
- Do you have a graphical, textual, or both type(s) of file transfer client(s) available on your system? What are the transfer modes you can use with your client(s)? (section 6.3, problem 3)
- Research the Microsoft Word macro viruses. How many different strains are there? Were you surprised by this? Why is it so easy to have viruses in Word? Speculate why these viruses spread so rapidly. (section 6.4, problem 16)
- Have you or a friend ever had problems with computer viruses? Describe your experiences. Do you regularly use virus detection software? Did you receive the “Good Times” message? When? Did you forward it? (section 6.4, problem 18)
